Updated over 2 weeks ago

The moment has arrived -> you've been given your Brightspace course shell, you've set up the content and quizzing in your textbook, you're now ready to install it into your Brightspace course. This guide will show you how in 2 steps:

  1. Download Your Common Cartridge from Blended Teaching

  2. Upload Your Common Cartridge in Brightspace

1. Download Your Common Cartridge from Blended Teaching

The Common Cartridge file is the file that contains all the details of your course that you have set up. The quizzes, assignments, links to content.... everything! To install your class, we're going to take the Common Cartridge file for your Blended Teaching course, and install it in Brightspace.

To download the Common Cartridge file from your textbook, start in your Blended Teaching Control Center:

  1. Go to the Settings tab of your Control Center.

  2. Scan down until you see the Export Course box.

  3. Select the blue Export Common Cartridge button to download the... Common Cartridge. Store this somewhere in easy reach (like your desktop).

2. Upload Your Common Cartridge in Brightspace

Brightspace is highly customizable, and as such, your version of it may not look exactly the same as our version. Nevertheless, this guide should be helpful.

To install your Common Cartridge:

  1. In Brightspace, navigate to the Import/Export/Copy Components page.

  2. Select Import Components, select from a course package and then press Start.

  3. Drop your Common Cartridge file from Blended Teaching into the upload box and Import All Components.

  4. ⏰ Now wait ⏰. This next step can take up to 5 minutes as Brightspace converts the Common Cartridge file into the Brightspace format.

  5. Once completed, click View Content.

  6. Hey presto, your entire textbook has been installed in your course, quizzes, assignments, video chapters and all.
