Downloading your access codes

When your codes are ready, we'll email you. Sign in, download them once, and keep the file somewhere safe.

Your access codes are ready when the buyer gets an email from us titled "Your [textbook] codes are ready". Here's how to download them, and what to do if you lose the file.

The email

The email goes to the buyer, the person who placed the order. It tells you:

  • How many codes are ready, and for which course and term

  • Your invoice number (the invoice itself goes to your store's invoice address; see Invoices and how to pay them)

  • A Sign in to download button

The email never contains the codes. For security, they're only available inside the ordering portal.

Download your codes

  1. Select Sign in to download in the email, or go to https://www.blended-teaching.com/bookstore-order. Sign in with your work email and the 8-digit code we send you. The code works for one hour. If it doesn't arrive, check your junk folder, then select Send a new code.

  2. Open the Orders & codes tab.

  3. Find your order. The status says "Codes ready".

  4. Select Download codes (CSV).

  5. As soon as the file downloads, save it somewhere safe and check that it opens.

Don't see the button? Your account may still be waiting for team approval.

The file is a CSV, which opens in Excel or Google Sheets.

Why you can only download once

Please treat the file with care. Each code gives one student access to a textbook, once, and it never expires. Anyone who has the file can use the codes. That's why we never send codes by email.

Each order's codes can be downloaded once. Save the file somewhere secure, and only share the codes with the people who need them.

After you download

The order changes to "Downloaded", and the Downloaded on and Downloaded by columns show the date and the email address of the person who downloaded it. Everyone at your store can see this. If a colleague has already downloaded an order, that's where to find out who has the file.

If you lose the file

Lost the file? Ask Fin, and our team can allow one more download.

Giving codes to students

That part is up to your store. Each code can only be used by one student, so hand each code to one student only. Students enter their code when they first open their Blended Teaching textbook in Canvas or Blackboard. Students can use their course without a code until seven days after the course start date, so they can start while their code is on its way, and enter it later from inside the course. Our students' guide is Where do I add my access code?.

If a student says their code doesn't work, the most common cause is that it was already used by someone else. See My Access Code Isn't Working.

Questions

Ask Fin, the chat in the bottom-right corner of the portal. It works before you sign in too. Fin answers first, and a person from our team can take over. You can also email [email protected].
