You decide what your students see after they submit a quiz, exam or assignment: nothing, their grade, their questions and answers, the answer feedback, whether each answer was right, and the correct answers. You set this, and when it shows, in the Results card on the assessment's Setup tab in the Blended Teaching Control Center.
This guide covers:
Open the Control Center
Open the Results settings
Choose what students see
1. Open the Control Center
Sign in to the Control Center at https://educators.blended-teaching.com/.
Once you are signed in, select your course under My Active Courses. This opens the course dashboard, with the Control Center pages in the left sidebar.
You can also open the Control Center straight from Canvas with the BT Control Center link under Educator Resources on your course's Modules page.
2. Open the Results settings
To open the settings:
Select Assessments in your course's left sidebar.
Find the assessment in the list.
Click the three-dot menu on its row and select Setup.
In the section list on the left of the Setup page, under Rules, select Results. The page jumps to the Results Display settings.
The right combination depends on what you want students to see. The most common setups are below.
For students who haven't paid yet, scores on graded work are held whatever these settings say, and appear once the student pays. Practice quizzes and knowledge checks are not affected. See Students who haven't paid yet.
3. Choose what students see
3.1. Show nothing
If you want students to receive no feedback at all:
Make sure Show grades to students is not selected.
The options below it are grayed out and have no effect.
After submitting, the student sees this message:
3.2. Show the grade only
If you want students to see only their grade (for example, 82%):
Select Show grades to students.
Make sure Show questions and student responses is not selected.
The other options are grayed out and have no effect.
After submitting, the student sees their grade:
3.3. Show the grade, questions and answers
If you want students to see their grade, the questions and their own answers:
Select Show grades to students.
Select Show questions and student responses.
Make sure Show answer feedback to students and Indicate if response is correct or incorrect are not selected.
The other options are grayed out and have no effect.
After submitting, the student sees their grade and each question with their answer:
3.4. Show the grade, questions, answers and feedback
If you want students to see their grade, their answers and the answer feedback, including the student support video on an assignment that has one:
Select Show grades to students.
Select Show questions and student responses.
Select Show answer feedback to students.
Make sure Indicate if response is correct or incorrect is not selected.
Choose when this information is shown:
For all attempts
Only after their last attempt
Only once after their last attempt
Student support videos appear only on assignments that have one.
3.5. Show everything, including the correct answers
If you want students to see their grade, their answers, the feedback, whether each answer was correct or incorrect, and the correct answers:
Select Show grades to students.
Select Show questions and student responses.
Select Show answer feedback to students.
Select Indicate if response is correct or incorrect.
Select Show correct answer.
Choose when this information is shown:
For all attempts
Only after their last attempt
Only once after their last attempt
When students may see the correct answers, their results look like this:
3.6. Show results only between certain dates
If you want to limit results to certain dates:
Select Show grades to students.
Set your dates using one of these options:
3.6.1. Use the quiz end date
For the Show results on date, click Use quiz end date. The field shows Tracking end date, so the date follows any change you make to the quiz end date. If your sections have different end dates, choose from the dropdown to track the latest or earliest section end date instead.
Adjust any other settings as needed.
Click Save setup. Once you change a field, the same button also appears in a banner at the bottom of the page.
3.6.2. Enter a date yourself
Type a date in Show results on if you don't want to use the quiz end date. Editing the date yourself switches it back from tracking the end date to a date you set. Then click Save setup.
If you leave Hide results on blank, results stay visible from then on.
Between the dates you set, students see the results you chose. Outside those dates, they see this message instead:
3.7. Show the grade now and the answers after the due date
If you want students to see their grade straight away, but see the feedback, whether they were right, and the correct answers only after the due date:
Choose the options you want, as in 3.5.
Enter the due date in Show responses on, the date field below Show questions and student responses.
Click Save setup.
Before the due date, students see their grade:
After the due date, they also see the feedback, whether each answer was correct or incorrect, and the correct answer to each question:
