Your students check their quiz, exam and assignment results on their Grades page, which they open from the Course Dashboard. It lists every graded assessment with their result, and what they can see for each one follows the results settings you choose in that assessment's Setup.
1. Accessing Results
Students reach the same Grades page whether they use Blended Teaching inside Canvas or Blackboard or go straight to the Blended Library.
To open their results, students:
Open any Blended Teaching chapter in Canvas or Blackboard, or open the course in the Blended Library.
Open the Course Dashboard. Inside the LMS it opens from the analytics icon in the content header. In the Blended Library it opens from Course Dashboard at the top of the course or chapter, or the chart icon in the reading toolbar.
On the Grades & Results tile, select View all grades & results.
Find the quiz or assignment in the list and select View Results.
Students see whatever results you have released at that time.
If you open the course with View as student, the Grades page shows a message explaining that results are not displayed in that mode.
2. The Student Experience
On the Grades page, students see:
The graded assessments in your course, grouped into Exams, Quizzes and Assignments.
For assessments they have submitted, the results you allow them to see.
2.1 The List of Assessments
Only graded assessments appear on the Grades page, in course order within each group. Practice quizzes and knowledge checks stay on the students' Practice Assessments page instead. A line under the course name tells students how many assessments have been graded so far.
An assessment that hasn't been given a category doesn't appear under any of the three headings. If students can't find one, check its Type on the assessment's Setup tab, which you reach from Assessments in your Control Center.
Students only see results for quizzes hosted in Blended Teaching. Quizzes you host in your LMS don't show up in Blended Teaching.
Each assessment shows one of these:
Not attempted: the student hasn't submitted yet.
View Results: the student has submitted and you've released results. They select it to see the details.
Results not yet available: the student has submitted, but you haven't released results yet.
Held, with a lock and the date they submitted: the student submitted graded work while on free access and hasn't paid yet. The line under the course name then reads, for example, 7 of 17 submitted · grades held, and Redeem a code or buy takes them to enter an access code or buy access. Once they do, every held grade shows at once with its score. See Students who haven't paid yet.
2.2 Results for Completed Assessments
When results are available, each assessment shows the student's score as a percentage, when they submitted, and which attempt counts: highest, latest or average. Two badges can also appear:
Late penalty: the work was submitted after the due date and the penalty was deducted. The original score is shown beneath.
Grade overridden: you set the score by hand. The calculated score is shown beneath.
Students select View Results for the question-by-question details of a graded attempt, or View All Attempts to see the score and submission time of each attempt when they've taken it more than once.
What they see on the results page depends on the Results Display settings you chose for that assessment. To choose what students can see and when, see Grades & Results Feedback Settings for Assessments.
2.3 Uploading Work from Grades
If an assessment allows file uploads and the student has submitted answers, its entry on Grades offers Upload your work until a file is saved, even when it says Results not yet available. Uploading a file doesn't release scores or feedback you've hidden.
