If your exam uses Respondus LockDown Browser and you haven't set up your Blended Teaching access and enrolled yet, you can't do it from inside LockDown Browser. Set it up in a normal browser instead, on this computer or another device, then go back to your exam. Setting up only needs doing once for your course.

1. Why This Happens
Respondus LockDown Browser locks your screen to the exam itself and keeps every other page closed while the exam is running. That is what makes it a secure exam environment.
It also means the pages used to set up your Blended Teaching access stay closed. Creating your account, paying by card or entering a bookstore access code, and enrolling in your class materials all happen on those pages, so they can't be completed inside LockDown Browser.
The fix is to set your access up outside LockDown Browser. There are two ways to do that, below.
2. Option 1: Finish Setting Up in Your Normal Browser
This is the simplest route, and the one to use if you only have one device.
Close LockDown Browser, following whatever your instructor or proctor has asked you to do about leaving the exam.
Open your usual browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox) and sign in to Canvas.
Go to your course and open any of the Blended Teaching materials, or the set-up link for your digital textbook if your instructor has added one.
Create your account if you're asked to.
Get access on the purchase page. To pay by card, select Purchase access, check the summary and select Confirm access, pay on the secure Stripe checkout, then select Get started on the confirmation page. To use a bookstore access code, select Enter access code below the purchase button, enter your code, select Continue, then Confirm access. If your class materials are free, the price shows as Free: select Get free access, then Confirm access.
If your course has free access, the page shows Redeem your access code and Buy access instead, with a box headed Waiting for your access code? below them. Select Start free until in that box to go straight to enrollment, with no checkout and no card, or use either of the two main buttons to redeem a code or pay.
Enroll in your class materials: check I consent to my progress data being shared, select Enroll in this classbook, then Confirm enrollment. If your university covers the cost, you skip payment and this step happens for you.
Once your course content opens, reopen LockDown Browser and start your exam.
3. Option 2: Finish Setting Up on Another Device
Use this route if you would rather not close the exam on your computer. Any second device works: a phone, a tablet or another computer.
On the second device, open its normal browser and sign in to Canvas.
Go to your course and open the set-up link for your digital textbook, or any of the Blended Teaching materials.
Follow steps 4 to 7 of Option 1: create your account if asked, get access on the purchase page (select Get free access if your class materials are free, or Start free until if your course has free access), and enroll in your class materials.
Your access is live as soon as you finish. Go back to your exam computer and refresh the assessment.
If your exam has already started, check with your instructor or proctor before you relaunch it, so they know why you were delayed.
4. Setting Up Before Exam Day
The smoothest route is to set your access up the first time you open any Blended Teaching material in your course, well ahead of your first proctored exam. Once it is done, LockDown Browser opens straight into your assessment on the day.
