A Quick Start Guide to Setting Up Your First Paper Exam

This guide is for anyone building their first paper exam in a new course for the first time.

With Blended Teaching, you can create, print, scan, auto-grade, and return paper exams for any of your classes with the same ease as online quizzes. This guide shows you everything you need to get started.

1. Create Your Course

If you want to build a paper quiz for a course you already use Blended Teaching for, skip this step and start at step 2.

Once you've created your Instructor account, you will be directed to your Course Page. From there, you can create new courses and manage your existing ones.

Click the 'Create Course' Tile, and complete the fields to create your new course.

2. Upload Your Quiz Questions

If you plan to use Blended Teaching's quiz banks, switch over to this guide to finish your paper exam setup.

2.1 Supported File Types

LMS exports: QTI packages (.zip, .imscc) from Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace D2L, up to 50MB.

Documents & images: .docx, .pdf, .txt, .csv, .png, or .jpg up to 10MB. AI will extract multiple choice, true/false, and numeric questions.

Supported question types: Multiple ChoiceTrue/FalseNumeric

2.2 How to Upload Your Question Banks

Start in your Control Center:

  1. Go to Quizzes

  2. Select Question Banks

  3. Select Import

  4. Upload your quiz bank file

  5. Click Continue

  6. (Optional) To convert your questions to dynamic versions, select Randomize after import

  7. After your questions have uploaded, select Import Questions
