Your course's Start Date and End Date are on the Course Details tab of your course's Settings page in the Blended Teaching Control Center. Students can't join the course after its End Date, and the Start Date sets how long students get free access before they pay.
This guide covers:
Change the course dates
When students can join
If you see a date error
1. Change the course dates
Open your course in the Control Center and select Settings in the left sidebar.
On the Course Details tab, find Start Date and End Date in the details form.
Pick the new dates and save your changes.
The same form holds the course name, internal name, academic period, timezone, course code and section number. The Course Path is shown but can't be changed.
Name
This is the course name, and it should match the name in your course syllabus. It's up to you whether you include the course code in the name.
Academic Period
This is the semester or term you are teaching. Most people use a name that matches the university calendar, such as Fall 2028 or Term 2 2028. Pick the name that makes most sense to you and your students.
Start Date
We recommend setting the Start Date to the earliest date a student could sign up, which is usually before the first day of class.
Your Start Date also sets your students' free access. Every new course has free access until seven days after its Start Date, so students can start before they pay or their access code arrives. If you change the Start Date, the free access date moves with it. See Students who haven't paid yet.
End Date
The End Date is usually the course end date in your syllabus. Students can't enroll after it, as section 2 explains.
2. When students can join
Students can enroll in your course up to its End Date. After the End Date, a student who tries to sign up is not added to your course.
3. If you see a date error
Two courses on the same course path can't have overlapping dates. If your new dates overlap another course on the same path, saving shows an error listing the conflicting courses. Change the dates so they no longer overlap. The Course versions card on the same Settings page lists the dates of every version of your course.
