What Learning Data is Tracked and Shared through Blended Teaching?

We share your performance and progress data with your university instructors to help them evaluate your knowledge and ultimately, grade.

Updated over 2 months ago

This short article covers what you and your instructors can track through Blended Teaching, including:

  1. Data-Driven Learning

  2. Data That We Currently Track & Share

1. Data-Driven Learning

You're here to learn, and your instructor is here to help you do just that (along with us). To help you learn effectively, we can all do a better job with data showing what you've mastered, what you are struggling with, and why.

Historically, legacy publishers have provided very little data for instructors, and for you as learners. But we are aiming to expose valuable insights to help accelerate the learning process.

The goal is for you to spend the minimum time required to fully understand the concepts. Much more is a waste (and you have a lot of other things to do!), and less means you won't sufficiently grasp the materials.

2. Data We Track & Share

2.1. Time Spent / Progress

We keep a track of how much time you have spent studying. You can see this in your Progress page. Your Instructor can also see the same time spent data. Note that this only includes the time spent watching videos, it doesn't include time spent doing any of the following:

  • reading

  • doing practice quiz questions at the end of the chapters

  • doing knowledge check quizzes

  • doing quizzes, exams or assignments

For more information on how the time is measured, click here.

2.2. Practice Quiz Results

The results of practice quizzes are available to you and your Instructor, allowing them to see which concepts you've nailed, and which you need more help with.

You can find your results in your Grades Center.

If you're not sure what we mean by a Practice Quiz, is just like a graded quiz, but your resulting score from the quiz doesn't count towards your grade. It's just for you to practice.

Note, at the end of each chapter, we've included 15-20 questions for you to practice the concepts you've learned. This is not the same as a practice quiz set by your instructor. We don't currently track your performance or time when practicing these quiz questions at the end of each chapter.

2.3. Graded Quiz & Exam Results

The results of graded quizzes and exams are available to you and your Instructor. You can find them in your Grades Center. The level of feedback you get for your quizzes and exams is dependent on they settings chosen by your instructor.

2.4. Assignment Results

The results of graded assignments are available to you and your Instructor. You can find them in your Grades Center. The level of feedback you get for your assignments is dependent on the settings chosen by your instructor.
