1. Introduction
Search may or may not be available in your textbook, depending on how your instructor has configured it. You can use it to quickly find topics & concepts covered in videos and notes across your entire textbook — no matter which chapter you're currently in.
2. What Search Includes
Search allows you to find any published content in the textbook, regardless of which chapter you start from and may include results from other chapters. Selecting a result will open that content in your current window, even if that content is not currently published in your LMS.
It functions like a searchable glossary or index.
Search includes:
Chapters
Assignments
Pages
Video segments
Note: Search does not include assessment content. Quiz and exam questions are not searchable.
3. How to Use Search
3.1 Accessing search via your LMS (Canvas/Blackboard)
Select the relevant course in your LMS.
Open any Blended Teaching content link embedded in the course.
Select the search icon in the top right corner.
Enter a keyword, concept, or topic.
You can filter and narrow down results in 5 ways. Search looks across:
Chapters — locates chapters by name or content.
Pages — finds specific pages within a chapter that discuss the topic or include the term you searched.
Video segments — takes you to the segment in a video where the topic or word appears.
Quizzes & Assignments — locates the quiz or assignment (not the individual questions within them).
4. Navigating After Using Search
Selecting a search result will open that content in your current window. To return to where you were before:
Use your browser's Back button to return to the previous page.
Or, navigate back to the chapter through the link in your LMS.
5. FAQs
Does search include quiz and exam questions?
No. Quiz and exam questions are not searchable.
Why can't I see the search bar?
Your instructor may have hidden search for your textbook.
