Overview
We’re introducing a new search feature to help you quickly find content across your textbook.
Search is available to both instructors and students, and it’s on by default for all textbooks.
This article will be updated soon with a full guide, including tips and examples for using search effectively.
Who Can Use Search
Instructors can use search to quickly locate content while reviewing or managing a textbook.
Students can use search to find specific topics, concepts, or sections as they move through the material.
What Search Includes
Search allows you to find any published content in the textbook, regardless of which chapter you initiate the search from.
Search results may include content from other chapters. Selecting a result will open that content in your current window, even if that content is not currently published in your LMS.
Search includes:
Videos
Text-based content
Assignments
Search does not include assessment content. Quiz and exam questions are not searchable.
Navigating After Using Search
To get back to the original chapter you opened, you can:
1. Use your browser’s Back button to return to where you were.
2. Or, navigate back to the chapter through the link in your LMS.
Turning Search On or Off
If you’d prefer to hide search in your textbook, you can do so from the Control Center:
Open your Control Center
Navigate to Course Structure
Open Course Settings
Scroll down and select Hide Search
What’s Next
This is the first version of search. If you have feedback or run into anything unexpected, feel free to reach out through the bot.
