If you want to change the order of content, or add/remove chapters once your class is set up, this guide will show you how. The steps are different depending on what you want to do, so find the action that relates to you as follows:
Shuffling Modules
Moving, Adding, or Removing Chapters Within a Module
Moving Chapters between Modules
Principle: You want your Blended Teaching content layout to match closely what you have in Canvas or Blackboard, allowing your progress tracking to be meaningful for you and students. If not, your progress tracking will no longer work effectively.
1. Shuffling Modules
If you want to change the order of your modules—for example, to move a module earlier in the course for a guest lecture—you can do so by following these steps.
Go to your Blended Teaching Control Center for that textbook and open the Course Structure tab.
Drag the module to its new position.
Go to your Canvas or Blackboard course and move the same module to the same position.
After reordering Modules, review your quizzes and exams to make sure the included questions still align with the updated course structure. Adjust them if needed.
2. Moving, Adding, or Removing Chapters Within a Module
2.1. Moving Chapters within the Same Module
f you want to move chapters within the same module, follow these steps.
Go to your Blended Teaching Control Center for that textbook and open the Course Structure tab.
Drag the chapter to a new position within the same module.
Go to your Canvas or Blackboard course and move the same chapter within that module to the matching position.
Remember to review any quizzes or exams that may be affected by this change and update them if necessary.
2.2. Adding Chapters to a Module
If you want to add a chapter to a module, follow these steps.
Go to your Blended Teaching Control Center for that textbook and open the Course Structure tab.
Find the module you want to add a chapter to and click Add Chapter.
Select the chapter you would like to add.
Adding a chapter in Blended Teaching does not automatically add it to your LMS. You must also add the same chapter to your Canvas or Blackboard course.
Finally, update your quizzes and exams to include questions related to the new chapter.
2.3. Removing Chapters from a Module
If you want to remove a chapter from a module, follow these steps.
Go to your Blended Teaching Control Center for that textbook and open the Course Structure tab.
Find the chapter you want to remove, click the three dots to the right of the chapter, and select Remove.
In your Canvas or Blackboard course, find the corresponding chapter and delete it.
Be sure to remove any questions related to that content from your quizzes and exams, and rebalance the number of questions as needed.
3. Moving Chapters between Modules
Chapters cannot be directly moved between modules in Blended Teaching. To move a chapter to a different module, you must:
Remove the chapter from its current module
Add the chapter to the new module
Follow the steps outlined above for Removing Chapters from a Module and Adding Chapters to a Module.
When you remove a chapter from a module in Blended Teaching, you must also remove it from your LMS. Likewise, when you add a chapter to a module in Blended Teaching, you must add it to your LMS as well.
If you shortcut this process and only move chapters in your LMS without making the same changes in Blended Teaching, your progress tracking will no longer work effectively.
