When students purchase access to Blended Teaching through an Inclusive Access or Equitable Access program, or if they pay for access through a Bookstore, they will be provided with an access code. But where is it?
This guide breaks down the following:
Finding Bookstore Access Codes
Finding IA & EA Access Codes
How to Use Access Codes
1. Finding Bookstore Access Codes
If a student buys their access code from a bookstore, the bookstore is responsible for providing the code to the students.
They will either give it to them on a printed out page at the bookstore at the time of purchase (if the student is there in person), or they will send it to them via email straight after purchasing.
Once you have the email, you can use the access code immediately.
But, which email is the access code in? We've heard from students that they get marketing emails from bookstores, and they can't identify the email with the access code in. In these cases, the best thing to do is to:
Search your spam folder and inboxes for any emails which include the class code or class name for the relevant class.
Search your emails for the words "Blended Teaching".
Hopefully, that will bring up the relevant email containing the access code from the bookstore. And if not, the only next step is to reach out to the bookstore.
2. Finding IA & EA Access Codes
Inclusive Access and Equitable Access providers are separate companies from the bookstore and universities. They provide access codes to students on an opt-out, or opt-in basis.
They share Blended Teaching access codes with students through a range of methods. Two common methods being by email, or through a link in the course LMS.
Email: On the start date of the course, students may be emailed their access code.
LMS Link: There may be an option on the LMS menu referring to the name of the IA or EA program (usually named something like TigerSmart, or Bulldog Bundle). Students can access that link to find their access code.
Please note, IA and EA providers usually only make the codes available to students on the start date of the class, and not before.
3. How to Use Access Codes
Once students have their access code, using it is a simple part of the sign up process. When students click on any Blended Teaching materials in the LMS, they will be asked to sign up and then to pay. At the point of payment, they will be offered the chance to use an access code.
