Introduction Email for the LMS Administrator to Integrate Blended Teaching

Integrating Blended Teaching with the university LMS is a relatively fast and easy process. Just introduce us to the relevant person, and share the draft email provided here.

Updated over a month ago

Your Blended Teaching textbook can be integrated into your class in Canvas, increasing the experience for students, and saving you time. To integrate your textbook at the class level, Blended Teaching first needs to be integrated at the university level. This guide describes your role in getting this done.

The Integration Process

1. Introduction

The process for getting Blended Teaching integrated at the university differs at each institution. Some universities want to check our security documentation, others simply want integration instructions.

We have everything prepared and ready to go, and there is little to no work required from instructors. Once we have been introduced to the university LMS administrator, we can do the rest. This typically involves us sharing some documentation and code with the administrator, which they can review and install. It's a normal process for an LMS administrator, this is what they do for a living.

2. Start By Finding The Right Person

The first step is to find out who is the person in charge of integrations for the university. The title of this role can vary by university, and varies wildly, so it can take a little digging. Here are some examples:

  • LMS Administrator

  • Learning Systems Support

  • Learning Technology Administrator

  • Instructional Technologist

The list could go on. It's possible that you hav e interacted with this person before in relation to your LMS (for example if you had any upgrades, or issuies with it in the past).

3. Introduce Us Via Email

Once you've identified the best person, send them an introduction email with us in cc ([email protected]). Here's an example:

Hi [Administrator name],

I am using Blended Teaching in my upcoming class, [class name]. Similarly to McGraw Hill and Pearson, they provide an LTI integration that improves the student learning experience. I'd like to integrate them into my class.

I have cc'd Blended Teaching. They have integrated at over 40 universities and can provide you with all necessary instructions and documentation. If you have any specific requests please feel free to ask them.

Regards,

[Your name]

It's common that the Administrators may require you to fill out an integration request form. If they do, just send it to us and we can fill out everything required. Our job is to make this as easy as possible for you. We have a lot of experience at this.
