1. What Assignments?

Your instructor decides whether to include graded assignments in your class, how many there are, and how many points they’re worth.

To see what’s included in your course, go to your Results Home page and review the list of assignments and quizzes.

To see the assignments coming up:

  1. Go to any Blended Teaching content chapter in Canvas or Blackboard.

  2. Click Grades in the top right.

  3. Scroll down to see a full list of upcoming assignments and quizzes.

Your instructor can adjust assignments and quizzes throughout the semester, but your Results Summary page always gives you the latest overview of what’s expected.

2. Doing an Assignment

Assignments are typically made up of three stages:

  1. The Scenarios – Read through the scenarios and download any associated files or templates.

  2. The Calculations – Carry out the required calculations and determine your answers.

  3. Submit Your Answers – Upload your answers and any required files at the end of the assignment.

2.1 The Scenarios

The opening of any assignment usually lays out a case-style scenario. These are often realistic but simplified, designed to highlight specific learning outcomes.

There may be downloadable files and templates attached to the scenarios for you to work through.

If there are any downloads available with the assignment, you can usually be downloaded by clicking on the "Attachments" button at the top of certain pages. You can tell which pages have downloadable attachments, as they have paperclips (📎) at the end of their title in the index.

2.2 The Calculations

As you work through the scenario, you’ll be presented with questions — usually around 15. There are two main types of questions:

  • Multiple-choice questions (up to 10 answer choices).

  • Short-answer questions (no answer options provided).

Carry out your calculations and record your answers as you go.

2.3 Submit Your Answers

Once you’ve completed all calculations, submit your answers for grading. Towards the end of each assignment, look for a page called Submit Your Answers Here. Click there to upload your answers.

This submission is in the form of a quiz, which usually:

  • Allows only one attempt.

  • Is not timed.

It’s simply a mechanism for uploading your pre-determined answers.

At the end of the quiz, you may also be asked (or required) to upload your working files. Only the following file types are accepted; all others will be rejected:

  • .csv, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .txt, .odt, .ods, .odp

  • Only file sizes of up to 20MB will be accepted.

Once you’ve submitted your answers and uploaded your work (if required), your assignment is complete.

3. Results & Feedback

Getting feedback on your assignment is critical. Your instructor controls the timing and amount of feedback you receive.

3.1 Results Options

For each quiz or assignment, your instructor can share:

  • Your grade.

  • Your questions and answers.

  • What you answered correctly and incorrectly.

  • The correct answers.

  • An assignment support video that discusses the assignment and explains the theory behind the questions.

Your instructor also decides when this information becomes available:

  • Immediately upon submission.

  • After a specific date (e.g., after the due date or end date).

A common setup is:

  • You receive your grade immediately upon submission.

  • After the due date passes, you receive:

    • Questions and answers.

    • What you answered correctly and incorrectly.

    • The assignment support video.

3.2 Accessing Results

You can find available results and feedback in your Grades Center for each assignment.

In the Blended Teaching player:

  1. Click Grades in the top right to go to the Grades Center.

  2. Find the assignment from the list and click View Results.

Whatever results your instructor has released at that time will be available there.

4. FAQ

I can’t find the results for my assignment.

There are two common reasons:

  1. You’re looking in Canvas or Blackboard instead of Blended Teaching. Go to the Results Summary page in Blended Teaching to see your list of assignments and quizzes with available results.

  2. Your instructor hasn’t released your results yet.

How do I know I’ve submitted my assignment?

Check the submission status on your Grades Center page.

  • In the Blended Teaching player, click Grades in the top right to go to the Grades Center page.

  • Find the assignment in the list:

    • If the button on the right says View Results, you’ve submitted the assignment. Click to see the Results page.

    • If the button says Not attempted, you haven’t submitted it yet.

    • If the button says Results not yet available, your instructor has timed the release of the results.
