A Guide to Question Banks

Introducing questions banks, what they are, how to find them and how to add questions to quizzes and pools.

Updated over a week ago

Blended Teaching provides banks of questions to accompany each Chapter. Within each bank, the questions cover the important concepts at a range of difficulties and Bloom’s Taxonomy levels. This guide covers:

  1. Introducing Question Banks

  2. Types of Question Banks

  3. Adding questions from a Question Bank to a Quiz

  4. Adding questions from a Question Bank to a Pool

1. Introducing Question Banks

For each Chapter of content we provide, we create multiple Question Banks that you can access when building quizzes.

A Question Bank is a group of questions that relate to a specific Chapter. We arrange the banks by:

  • Chapter – each Chapter has a range of banks with 10–30 questions covering its content.

  • Question Type – banks are separated into static or dynamic questions, so you can choose the evaluation method you prefer.

  • Use Case – we create multiple questions to test the same concepts and split them into separate banks. For example, you can use one bank for a practice quiz, another for an end-of-module quiz, or another for a mid-term exam.

There are two paths to accessing Question Banks:

  1. Through the Quizzes tab

  2. Through a quiz Build page

1.1 Access through the Quizzes Tab

The easiest way to access the Question Banks list is through the Quizzes tab.

To access:

  1. Go to the Quizzes tab in the Control Center.

  2. Click on the Question Banks tab.

  3. You’ll see a list of banks available to you.

If you don’t see any Question Banks, contact us via Blended Bot or [email protected] and we’ll add them.

1.2 Access through the Quiz Build Page

Alternatively, you can access the same Question Banks through the Build page of a quiz.

Alternatively, you can access the same Question Banks from the Build page of a quiz. To access:

2. Types of Question Banks

Examples of the types of Question Banks available:

  • Static vs. Dynamic questions

  • MCQ vs. Short Answer (Math)

  • Exam, Quiz, Practice Quiz, and Knowledge Check

Each bank contains 10–30 questions, covering a range of difficulties (from easy to hard, in order) and multiple Bloom’s Taxonomy levels to help you evaluate students effectively.

2.1 Static Versus Dynamic

Our quizzing platform allows you to create both static and dynamic questions.

  1. Static questions – the same for every student.

  2. Dynamic questions – parameters vary for each student, so no two students receive the exact same version.

When creating a question, you can choose between Static and Dynamic for both MCQs and Short Answer (Math) questions.

You can identify a bank of only Static MCQs by its title, which will include “Static MCQ.”

If not otherwise labeled, a bank will include a mix of Static MCQs and Dynamic Short Answer (Math) questions.

If not stated otherwise (as shown above), the bank will include a combination of Static MCQ and Dynamic Short Answer (Math) questions.

2.2 MCQ versus Short Answer (Math)

We support multiple question formats:

  • MCQ – Multiple Choice Questions with as many answer options as you like.

  • Short Answer (Math) – Students type in their answers, useful for numerical or formula-based problems.

2.3 Exam, Quiz, Practice Quiz and Knowledge Check

We provide different banks for different use cases, including:

  • Practice Quizzes

  • Quizzes

  • Exams

  • Knowledge Checks

Each set covers the same Chapter concepts, but with unique questions. This allows you to test students on the same concepts multiple times across the semester (e.g., practice quizzes, mid-term exams, end-of-module quizzes).

You can identify the purpose of each bank by its title.
