Setting Dates for Assessments

A short guide on how to set the Start Date, Due Date and End Date for your assessments.

Updated over a week ago

Each assessment has 3 dates that you can set:

  1. Start Date

  2. Due Date

  3. End Date

1. Setting The Dates

The Start Date, Due Date and End Date are found in the same place, on a specific quiz home page.

To access the quiz dates:

  1. Go to the Quizzes tab in the Control Center.

  2. Find the quiz you want to set dates for from the list.

  3. Click on the relevant quiz name.

  4. Now scan down to the Availability section.

  5. Add in date and times for the Start Date, Due Date and End Date using the calendar picker.

2. Defining The Dates

Start Date

This is the date from which students are able to access the assessment. If a student access the assessment before the start date, they will see this:

After the Start Date, but before the Due Date, students see this:

Due Date

This is last date that a student can submit an attempt without being considered late.

End Date

This is the date until which the assessment is available for students to attempt. Most often, this date is set to be in line with the Due Date.

If you want to allow students to attempt and submit their assessment after the Due Date, set the End Date after the Due Date.

You may want to do this if you want to provide an extension to students, or if you want to allow late submissions in return for a penalty.

After the End Date, students see this:
